Admit him into the Garden, protect him from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the Fire.’ Visiting the graves ال َأَھْل ْعَلَيْكُم ُﱠ لام س ال َ ﱢ ي د ا ِ ر َ مِن ا ِ وَإ وَالمُسْلِمِيْنَ، َلمُؤْمِنِيْن ﱠ نا ِ إ ْ ن َ شا َء ُﱠ ﷲ ُنَسْأَل لاحِقُوْنَ، ْبِكُم َﱠ ﷲ ُوَلَكُم لَنَا ا َ لعَافِيَة As-Salāmu `Alaykum 'Ahla Ad-Diyāri Mina AlMu'uminīna Wa Al-Muslimīna, Wa 'Innā 'In Shā'a Allāhu Bikum Lāĥiqūna, Nas'alu Allāha Lanā Wa Lakumu Al-`Āfiyata. ‘Peace be upon you all, O inhabitants of the graves, amongst the believers and the Muslims. Verily we will, Allah willing, be united with you, we ask Allah for well-being for us and you.’ When visiting the sick When the Prophet (SAW) would enter upon a sick person, he would say: ﺭ ْ ﻮ ُ ﹶﻃﻬ َ ﹾﺄﺱ َ ﺑ ﻻ ٌ ﹺﺇ ﹾﻥ َ ﺷﺎ َ ﺀ ﺍﻟ ُ ﻠﱠﻪ Lā Ba'sa Ţahūrun 'In Shā'a Al-Lhu Upon Hearing The Adhan (Call to Prayer) "When you hear the Mu'adhdhin (the person who calls to prayer), repeat what he says. Then invoke a blessing on me, for everyone who invokes a blessing on me will receive ten blessings from Allah. Then beg from Allah al-Wasilah for me, which is a rank in Paradise fitting for only one of Allah's Servants, and I hope that I may be that one. If anyone asks that I be given the Wasilah, he will be assured of my intercession." Seeking forgiveness and repentance ‘Whoever says: 'Astaghfiru Allāha Al-Ladhī Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā Huwa AlĤayyu Al-Qayyuwumu Wa 'Atūbu 'Ilayhi. ‘I seek Allah’s forgiveness, besides whom, none has the right to be worshipped except He, The Ever Living, The Self-Subsisting and Supporter of all, and I turn to Him in repentance.’ …Allah would forgive him even if he was one who fled during the advance of an army.’ Supplication for seeking guidance (Al-Istikharah) The Prophet (SAW) said ‘ If any of you intends to undertake a matter then let him pray two supererogatory units (two rakhats nafilah) of prayer and after which he should supplicate ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻬﻢﱠ ﹺﺇﻧﱢ ﻲ ﹺﺑ َ ﻙ ُ ﺮ ْ ﻴ ِ ﺨ َ ﺘ ْ ﹶﺃﺳ َ ﺘ ْ ﹶﺃﺳ َ ﻭ ،َ ﻚ ِ ﻤ ْ ﹾﻠ ِ ﻌ ﹾﻘ َ ﻙ ُ ﺭ ِ ﺪ ﹺﺑﻘﹸ ْ ﺪ ِ ﻣ َ ﹶﺄﻟﹸﻚ ْ ﹶﺃﺳ َ ﻭ ،َ ﻚ ِ ﺗ َ ﺭ ْ ﻦ َ ﻚ ِ ﻠ ْ ﹶﻓﻀ ﺍ ﹶﻓﹺﺈ ﹺﻢ، ْ ﻴ ِ ﻈ َ ﻟﻌ ﻧﱠ َ ﻚ َ ﺗ ﹾﻘ ِ ﺪ ُ ﺭ ﻻ َ ﻭ ﹶﺃ ﹾﻗ ﻻ َ ﻭ ُ ﹶﻠﻢ ْ ﻌ َ ﺗ َ ﻭ ،ُ ﺭ ِ ﺪ ﹶﺃ َ ﻭ ،ُ ﹶﻠﻢ ْ ﹶﺃﻋ ْ ﻧ ُ ﻼﱠﻡ َ ﻋ َ ﺖ ﺍ ﹺﺏ، ْ ﻮ ُ ﻴ ُ ﻟﻐ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻬﻢﱠ ﹺﺇ ﹾﻥ ﹸﻛ ْ ﻨ ﹶﺃ ُ ﹶﻠﻢ ْ ﻌ َ ﺗ َ ﺖ ﻥﱠ ﹶﺬﺍ َ ﻫ ﺍ َ ﺮ ْ ﻣ َ ﻷ - َ ﺴ ُ ﻳ َ ﻭ ﻤﱢ ُ ﻪ َ ﺘ َ ﺎﺟ َ ﺣ ﻲ - ﺮ ْ ﻴ َ ﺧ ٌ ﻲ ِ ﻌﺎﺷ َ ﻣ َ ﻭ ﹺﻨﻲ ْ ﻳ ِ ﺩ ﻲ ِ ﻓ ﻲ ِ ﻟ ﻲ ِ ﻟ ْ ﺎ ﹺﺭﻙ َ ﺑ ﹸﺛﻢﱠ ﻲ ِ ﻟ ُ ﻩ ْ ﺴﱢﺮ َ ﻳ َ ﻭ ﻲ ِ ﻟ ُ ﻩ ْ ﺭ ِ ﹶﻓﺎ ﹾﻗﺪ ﹺﺮﻱ، ْ ﹶﺃﻣ ِ ﺔ َ ﺒ ِ ﺎﻗ َ ﻋ َ ﻭ ﹺﺇ َ ﻭ ،ِ ﻪ ْ ﻴ ِ ﻓ ﹾﻥ ﹸﻛ ْ ﻨ ﹶﺃ ُ ﹶﻠﻢ ْ ﻌ َ ﺗ َ ﺖ ﻥﱠ ﹶﺬﺍ َ ﻫ ﺍ ﺮ َ ﺷ َ ﺮ ْ ﻣ َ ﻷ ٌ ﻲ ِ ﻓ ﻲ ِ ﻟ ﻨﱢﻲ َ ﻋ ُ ﹺﺮ ﹾﻓﻪ ْ ﹶﻓﺎﺻ ﹺﺮﻱ، ْ ﹶﺃﻣ ِ ﺔ َ ﺒ ِ ﺎﻗ َ ﻋ َ ﻭ ﻲ ِ ﺎﺷ َ ﻌ َ ﻣ َ ﻭ ﹺﻨﻲ ْ ﻳ ِ ﺩ ْ ﺍﺻ َ ﻭ ﹺﺮ ﺍ َ ﻭ ُ ﻪ ْ ﻨ َ ﻋ ﹾﻓﹺﻨﻲ ﹾﻗ ﻲ ِ ﻟ ْ ﺭ ِ ﺍ ﺪ ﹶﻛ ﺚﹸ ْ ﻴ َ ﺣ َ ﺮ ْ ﹶﳋﻴ ﺎ ﹸﺛ ﹶﻥ ﻢﱠ ِ ﹺﺑﻪ ﹺﻨﻲ ِ ﺿ ْ ﹶﺃﺭ Al-Lahumma 'Innī 'Astakhīruka Bi`ilmika Wa 'Astaqdiruka Biqudratika Wa 'As'aluka Min Fađlika Al- `Ažīmi Fa'innaka Taqdiru Wa Lā 'Aqdiru Wa Ta`lamu Wa Lā 'A`lamu Wa 'Anta `Allāmu Al-Ghuyūbi AlLahumma 'In Kunta Ta`lamu 'Anna Hādhā Al-'Amra- Wa Yusammī Ĥājatahu - Khayrun Lī Fī Dīnī Wa Ma`āshī Wa `Āqibati 'Amrī Fāqdirhu Lī Wa Yassirhu Lī Thumma Bārik Lī Fīhi Wa 'In Kunta Ta`lamu 'Anna Hādhā Al-'Amra Sharun Lī Fī Dīnī Wa Ma`āshī Wa `Āqibati 'Amrī Fāşrifhu `Annī Wa Aşrifnī `Anhu Wāqdir Lī Al-Khayra Ĥaythu Kāna Thumma 'Arđinī Bihi. ‘O Allah, I seek Your counsel by Your knowledge and by Your power I seek strength and I ask You from Your immense favour, for verily You are able while I am not and verily You know while I do not and You are the Knower of the unseen. O Allah, if You know this affair -and here he mentions his need- to be good for me in relation to my religion, my life, and end, then decree and facilitate it for me, and bless me with it, and if You know this affair to be ill for me towards my religion, my life, and end, then remove it from me and remove me from it, and decree for me what is good wherever it be and make me satisfied with such.’ Bidding Farewell to Someone When bidding someone farewell. the Prophet (S) would say, وَأَمَانَتَكَ، َدِيْنَك َ ﱠ ﷲ ُأَسْتَوْدِع َ عَمَلِك َوَخَوَاتِيْم 'Astawdi' laha deenaka wa'amanataka wa khatima amaleek.' (I entrust to Allah your belief, what you are responsible for, and your final deeds.) (T) Settling a debt حَرَامِكَ، ْعَن َبِحَلالِك اكْفِنِي ﱠ ھم ﱠ الل َ ع َبِفَضْلِك وَأَغْنِنِي ﱠ م ْ ن َ سِوَاك Al-Lahumma Akfin ī Bi ĥ al ā lika `An Ĥar ā mika Wa 'Aghnin ī Bifađlika `Amman Siwā ka ‘O Allah, make what is lawful enough for me, as opposed to what is unlawful, and spare me by Your grace, of need of others.’ Instruction for the one nearing death ‘ He whose last words are: ﻻ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ َ ﹺﺇﹶﻟﻪ ﺍﻟ ُ ﻠﱠﻪ L ā 'Il ā ha 'Ill ā Al-Lhu ‘None has the right to be worshipped except Allah.’ …will enter Paradise. ’ Supplication for the expiation of sins said at the conclusion of a sitting or gathering…etc ُ ﺳ ْ ﺒ َ ﻚ َ ﺎﻧ َ ﺍﻟﻠﱠﻬﻢﱠ ﺤ ﹶﺃ ُ ﺪ َ ﻬ ْ ﹶﺃﺷ ،َ ﻙ ِ ﺪ ْ ﻤ َ ﹺﺑﺤ َ ﻭ ﹾﻥ ﻻ ﹶﺃ ﹺﺇﻻﱠ َ ﹺﺇﹶﻟﻪ ْ ﻧ ُ ﺏ ْ ﻮ ُ ﹶﺃﺗ َ ﻭ َ ﻙ ُ ﺮ ِ ﻔ ْ ﻐ َ ﺘ ْ ﹶﺃﺳ َ ﺖ َ ﻚ ْ ﹺﺇﹶﻟﻴ Subĥānaka Al-Lahumma Wa Biĥamdika 'Ash/hadu 'An Lā 'Ilāha 'Illā 'Anta 'Astaghfiruka Wa 'Atūbu 'Ilayka ‘How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You. I bear witness that None has the right to be worshipped except You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to You in repentance.’
